Radco was introduced to this project by ARCS Construction Services, Inc. Radco does not typically do residential roofing, but felt that the design and implementation was an exception to every rule. This new construction was developed for a CEO of a major national corporation who fell in love with the beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains. A focus on sustainable design was important in this LEED Certified project. Given the climate in the mountains an expedited time frame was required.
Zinc is a custom building material that is only used under special conditions. It requires a craftsman with a unique skillset to install properly. Radco was able to provide this expertise along with the expertise to install all of the other components of this challenging green roof installation project. The goal of this contemporary design was being able to appreciate the view from every angle. Hats off to Peter Gluck and Partners architects for creating a stunning and environmentally friendly design.
A green roof installation is a roof of a building that is partially or completely covered with vegetation and soil, or a growing medium, planted over a waterproofing membrane. It may also include additional layers such as a root barrier and drainage and irrigation systems. Green roofs are also referred to as eco-roofs, vegetated roofs, living roofs, and green roofs.
