The headquarters for investment firm TIAA Financial Services is located in the University Research Park in Charlotte, North Carolina. Radco Roofing has worked with TIAA CREF on several roofing projects over a 10 year timeframe. Radco has formed a great relationship with their property management company, Cushman & Wakefield.
Cushman & Wakefield contacted Radco in regards to a major pond leaking problem, located at the front of their main campus. The pond was losing an excessive amount of water due to cuts and leaks in the liner. TIAA campus was filling the pond with water daily to keep up with the leak issue as a resulte a pond leak fix was needed and Radco came to solve this problem.
The project scope consisted of removal of the perimeter liner. The existing base liner was left as a protection layer. Radco crew installed a 060 Mil EPDM membrane liner and re-caulked all control joints surrounding pumps.
No major challenges occurred on this pond leak repair project although the speciality caulking project that consisted of caulking all control joints surrounding the pumps was completed by a specialized caulking crew. The pond leaking project was completed after 4 days. This consisted of 6 guys for 2 days and final completion of caulking consisted of 3 guys for 2 days.
One of the advantages of a EPDM membrane liner is that it can be placed over top of the current membrane material without any harm being done. Black EPDM roofing membrane is UV resistant and has a long lifespan, cutting back on maintenance. The rubber roofing membrane can survive all forms of weathering and can last 40 years or more
