Coca Cola Bottling Co. warehouse is located in the Charlotte Business Park at 920 Black Satchel Drive in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Client is Equity Industrial Black Satchel, LLC and the project is to re-cover a 774 square roof section at the Coca Cola warehouse. Radco roofing company has worked with Equity Industrial for 20 + years and have completed several roofing projects for the Coca Cola facility. The need for a roof repair was identified by the customer due to ongoing issues created by the deterioration of the JP Stevens membrane.
Radco was awarded the project due to negotiation and the relationship with the client. The project consisted of installing ½” mechanically attached fan fold EPS, 060 Mil Carlisle TPO along with the V2T system. All existing damaged materials were removed and after this procedure was completed then came the werehouse roofing step. New gutters were placed on both ends of the building along with the install of new coping.
The 060 Mil Carlise TPO membranes are ENERGY STAR®-qualified and Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC)-certified, and have been directly attributed to a reduction in energy use and cooling costs for buildings in warm, southern climates.
The V2T Roof System has many valuable benefits including the price, being a ‘green’ technology, and offering quicker installation. However, one often discussed benefit of the V2T vent is its ability to pull both air and moisture out from under a membrane. The V2T Roof System uses the power of the wind to create suction between the roof membrane and substrate – the stronger the wind, the stronger the suction. This suction grip increases the potential for removal of moisture from the roof system.
A sensor located inside the upper hemisphere of the vent transmits readings wirelessly to the data acquisition hub housed inside the building. Data is then transmitted from the hub over the internet to Virginia Tech for analysis. V2T can provide roof owners, consultants, or your contractor with relevant moisture and pressure reports, keeping your roof in the best shape possible. The system is powered by solar cells with battery backup located on the V2T Vent.
